About HoardTOclean | Toronto's Dedicated Hoarding Cleanup Specialists

Our Story & Mission

Built for One Thing. Hoarding Cleanup.

HoardTOclean was founded because Toronto families deserved better than a general cleaning crew showing up to one of the most sensitive situations of their lives. We built a company dedicated entirely to hoarding — and nothing else.

Who We Are

Toronto's Only
Hoarding-Exclusive
Cleanup Company

HoardTOclean was founded in Toronto by a team with direct experience in hoarding remediation, mental health support, and property restoration. After years working in general cleaning and extreme cleaning services, our founders saw the same pattern repeating: families in crisis being handed off to crews who had no training in trauma-informed care, no understanding of hoarding disorder, and no respect for the emotional weight of the situation.

We built HoardTOclean to fix that. We do one thing — hoarding cleanup — and we do it with the depth of expertise, compassion, and discretion that the situation demands. Every technician on our team has been trained specifically for hoarding environments: the physical hazards, the biohazard protocols, and just as importantly, the human side of the work.

Five years and hundreds of cleanups later, we serve families, landlords, property managers, estate trustees, and social workers across Toronto and the entire Greater Toronto Area. We work alongside mental health professionals, the legal system, and insurance companies to deliver safe, permanent, dignified solutions.

"Every person deserves to have their home back — without shame, without judgment, and without being rushed."

Our Core Values

What We Believe
Drives How We Work

These aren't aspirational statements — they're the standards we hold ourselves to on every single job, regardless of size, severity, or client situation.

Dignity First

Every client — whether present or not, whether it's a Level 1 clutter job or a Level 5 biohazard — deserves to be treated with complete dignity. We do not comment, judge, or discuss client situations. The work is private, and so is our conduct.

Radical Transparency

We explain every step before we take it. Our quotes are itemized. Our timelines are honest. We don't upsell services that aren't needed and we don't start work without explicit agreement on scope and price. No surprises. Ever.

Trauma-Informed Practice

Hoarding disorder is a recognized mental health condition. Our team receives ongoing training in how to communicate with clients and families compassionately, how to handle emotionally significant items, and how to work without escalating already difficult situations.

Complete Discretion

Unmarked vehicles. Plain clothing. No logos on equipment. We operate like you'd want us to — invisibly. Neighbours, building managers, and passersby have no idea why we're there. This isn't optional for us — it's a baseline requirement on every job.

Deep Expertise

We don't send general labourers. Our technicians are trained specifically in biohazard handling, the Clutter Hoarding Scale, ISSA protocols, and Ontario waste disposal regulations. Expertise isn't a claim — it's demonstrated on every job.

Always Available

Hoarding crises don't happen on business hours. A landlord gets an emergency order on a Friday night. A family member arrives to find a dangerous situation on a Sunday morning. We're available every day, every hour — 24/7, 365.

Our Clients

Who We
Work With

HoardTOclean serves a wide range of clients across Toronto and the GTA — from individuals seeking help for themselves or a loved one, to landlords, legal professionals, and social service agencies requiring certified remediation.

01

Families & Loved Ones

Adult children trying to help aging parents. Spouses navigating a partner's hoarding disorder. Siblings managing an estate after a loss. We work with families compassionately, at their pace, with complete sensitivity to the emotional dynamics involved.

02

Individuals Living with Hoarding

Many of our clients call for themselves. Reaching out takes enormous courage. We meet that courage with zero judgment, full confidentiality, and a process entirely centred on your comfort and consent. You lead — we follow.

03

Landlords & Property Managers

When a tenant vacates a hoarding-affected property, the cleanup requires speed, documentation, and certified biohazard handling. We work with landlords and property managers across Toronto to restore units to rentable condition — with insurance documentation provided.

04

Legal & Estate Professionals

Estate lawyers, trustees, and real estate agents frequently engage HoardTOclean to prepare properties for sale, transfer, or probate. We provide full documentation and work within legal timelines. Valuables are identified, catalogued, and preserved.

05

Social Workers & Mental Health Teams

We regularly work alongside social workers, community health teams, and hoarding support groups in Toronto. We understand our role within a broader support framework and coordinate with mental health providers to ensure continuity of care throughout the cleanup process.

06

Municipalities & Bylaw Compliance

When Toronto property standards officers issue cleanup orders under Municipal Code Chapter 629, we respond fast, document thoroughly, and provide all paperwork required for bylaw compliance. Court-ordered and emergency-response situations handled with urgency.

Training & Credentials

Our Team's
Qualifications

Every HoardTOclean technician completes a rigorous onboarding and ongoing training program. Hoarding cleanup requires skills that go far beyond physical labour — our team is prepared for every dimension of the work.

ISSA Certified Biohazard Certified WHMIS 2015 First Aid / CPR Ontario Waste Disposal PPE Trained Trauma-Informed Care Fully Insured

Clutter Hoarding Scale Certification

All technicians are trained in the ICD Clutter Hoarding Scale — the industry standard for assessing and categorizing hoarding environments from Level 1 through Level 5. This ensures appropriate resource deployment, safety protocols, and scope accuracy on every job.

Biohazard & PPE Protocols

Certified biohazard handling including human and animal waste, sharps, mould remediation, and chemical contamination. Full PPE is mandatory on any job with Level 3 or above conditions. Disposal follows Ontario-regulated protocols and all materials are properly manifested.

Trauma-Informed Communication

Our team understands the psychological dimensions of hoarding disorder. Training covers non-stigmatizing language, how to handle emotionally significant items, how to communicate with distressed family members, and when to recommend mental health referrals.

Insurance Documentation & Claims

We're trained to produce the before/after documentation that Ontario insurance companies require for hoarding-related claims. We work directly with adjusters, provide itemized service reports, and assist clients with navigating the claims process from start to finish.

Ontario Regulatory Compliance

Our operations comply with Ontario's Environmental Protection Act, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 629 (Property Standards). We stay current with provincial and municipal regulations — compliance documentation provided on request.
